Where Saint Frank is guided by the character of Francis of Assisi, Brother Juniper guides us in the kitchen at Juniper.
Brother Juniper was known for his outlandish generosity and hospitality often cooking for old friends and new with a pure desire to make them happy.
His simple desire to do good and delight others was often scandalous; it didn’t fit the expectations and systems around him. Through it all, his patience and joyful humility won people over.
Baking requires a lot of patience, but it’s unique in its power to spark joy.
San Francisco could use some patience, joy, and generosity right now. We hope our bakery plays a small role in this change, like aromatic juniper trees seeding and growing in the most arid and stony places.
